Boundaries of Ahupuaa of Kalihikai and Kalihiwai

1905, February 8th, Received and filed the following application:

Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, February 1st, 1905

Honorable James Hardy, Boundary Commissioner, Fifth Judicial Circuit,

Sir: The undersigned owner for the Ahupuaa of Kalihikai, and the major portion of the ahupuaa of Kalihiwai, both in Halelea District, Island of Kauai, Territory of Hawaii, hereby respectfully applies for a settlement of the boundaries of said Ahupuaas, and certificates of such boundaries.

The adjoining lands and owners so far as known to your applicant area:
Kalihikai:
On West side portion of the land of Hanalei, covered by grant 4846, A.S. Wilcox, owner
On East side the land of Kalihiwai, owned by A.S. Wilcox
On the North side bounded by the sea.

Kalihiwai:
On the West by land of Kalihikai, owned by A.S. Wilcox and by upper portion of Hanalei, Government's land,
On the South by Wailua, Government land, and by Kapaa, Government land, Makee Sugar Co. lessee.
On the East by Kealia owned by Makee Sugar Co., Anahola government land, leased to Makee Sugar Co. Grants 2896 to C. Titcomb. And Grant 620 to J. Dudoit, now Kilauea Sugar Co.
On the North by the Sea.

Surveys of the land of Kalhikai, giving boundaries as claimed by your applicant with maps to accompany said surveys are herewith enclosed.

Your applicant would therefore ask that a time be appointed for hearing on this application, and that the boundaries of said lands be settled and certified as by the enclosed surveys.

1905 February 10; Received and filed a latter from W.C. Smith, attorney for A.S. Wilcox, of 9th instant containing a amended copy of the notes of survey of Kalihiwai with letter from J.F. Born, Surveyor, and asking that the corrected survey be substituted for the survey received and filed on the 8th instant.

March 25, Appointed Friday April 14th at 10 a.m. at the Court house of the Circuit Court. Lihue, Kauai, as the time and place for hearing the said application; and caused notice of this hearing to be published in English in the Hawaiian Gazette, February 28, March 7, 14, and 21, and in Hawaiian in the "Kuokoa" March 3, 10, 14 & 24.

March 28. Sent written notices of said hearing tot he following owners, or parties in witness in adjoining lands, viz.: Territory of Hawaii, per J.W. Pratt, Commissioner of Public Lands, Kilauea Sugar Co., Makee Sugar Co., Lihue Plantation Co.

April 14, Hearing of said application at the Court House, Lihue at 10 a.m. There were present at the hearing the petitioner, Princeville Plantation Company, by W.C. Smith, its President, A.S. Wilcox, Stockholder, W.O. Smith, Esquire, also acting as Attorney for the Petitioner, Andrew More, Esquire, appearing for the Kilauea Sugar Company, Fred E. Harvey, Esqu ....
