Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby state to you the basis of my claim at Hanalei. It was from after the war, being the year 1825, from this time my Makuas occupied this place until the time of my birth, and no one opposed us, we lived together until their deaths, and I continue to occupy this claim, never having left it. During my time of occupancy I have not been opposed, therefore I have a genuine right to this house lot.

The length of the house lot is 41 fathoms, and the width is 24 fathoms. It is bounded: on the north by the makaha* of Kanoa, on the east by a branch of the muliwai of Hanalei, on the south b ....

The house lot in Kanoa of Hanalei was received from his parents in 1825. The loi at Makaana was received in 1840 from the Konohiki. Section 3 and 4 were from Haokala in 1847, no objections.

Kaleikini, sworn, he has seen the house lot and the loi in Makaana belonging to Makaiwa and there are other parcels which he has not seen.
