Greetings to you, W. Richards, Head of the Land Commissioners: I hereby testify to you concerning my interest in my land and my kulas where my house stands, and where my crops are. I have the right by inheritance from my makuahine to me from the time that Kamehameha I returned to Hawaii. Just after this my makuahine occupied this place, after Hoomoeapule. She lived there until she died, in 1842. Thus I lived under the konohiki and went to his days of labor and those of the tax officer.
On December 2, 1846 I received a letter from Ulualoha evicting so. I have the letter in hand. The tax officer assisted him and my house was broken and taken to another portion belonging to me, without my consent. This bad deed was done on February 4. The governor also helped him by awarding the kula where my house stands and where my crops are, to Ulualoha.
On the 18th day of the month John Ii came to only look at this. Be-cause he did not understand and did not end this trouble of mine, Ulualoha thought he had won over me and therefore he took my four taro patches for himself on the19th. The witnesses are Kaauwai, Lono, Kuapuu - they know of my occupancy in former times.

Kuapuu, sworn by the Word of God and stated, "I have seen this land, a true land and a plain also. I have seen Namohala living there since Liholiho's reign to the present time. Namohala's parents had given this land to him and they had received it from Hoomoeapule. Namohala and his mother's husband, Maihea by name, are living there now but this land has been possessed by Kealoha in the month of June, this year 1847. Maihea is there and Namohala is away on the land of Pei by name. The boundaries are the same as those mentioned here by Kekio for that property."

Kealoha, sworn, I have given to Namohala the place which is close to the Ahupuaa of Moanalua. I have not given any portion of the kupono ili. I have given my place only.
Namohala: I have no witnesses for these lands of mine, they're all dead. The chiefs who have fulfilled the fact that the land is mine are my only witnesses.
