Greetings to you, the Honorable Wm. L. Lee, the President of the Land Commissioners designated by the Mo`i: Because of the announcement of the law, therefore I hereby present my claim for a house lot, which is makai of the large entrance to the place of the Mo`i, which is bounded as follows: north, the lot of John Stevenson; east, the lot of Kaleookekoi; south, a small road; west, the lot of Keoni Ana /John Young, jr./. .... This land had been a lot which was overrun with weeds /Nohu/ when Kaheana habited there and no one had objected. The witness mentioned above was ill; therefore, one of the land officers was sent to obtain his statements with Kaehu's secretary.
