Dear Sir
Mr. F.H. Harris is authorized by the commissioners of Crown lands to make application to you as commissioner of Boundaries to have the boundaries of all Crown lands on the Island of Hawaii defined. He has a list of the lands with him.

.... d to plant food on both sides of the auwai. The boundary strikes the Waimoa cultivating grounds and then turns along the bank of the loi, toward Kohala, and runs to the pond, then along the makai side of the pond to the road; thence along Kalua's kuleana to Imaikalani. I did not go with the surveyor when he surveyed the Waipio side of Muliwai; but saw them survey around the ponds I have mentioned. There it was surveyed correctly, but along the makai side of the pond adjoining the village and pali, it was not surveyed correctly. I was not allowed to point out the boundaries there. Naaiwi (now dead) a konohiki of Muliwai and Koawa were with us, Kaawa is now at Laie now on Oahu was the kamaaina. In surveying from mauka between Muliwai and Waipio, the flags were set on the boundary, but the chain was taken along the road. The boundary runs a short distance from the road following along the base of the pali to Kealai, where the old road runs over the pali to Waimanu, at a depression in the pali [DIAGRAM] [diagram showing lower place in ridge where footpath crossed]. I have always heard that the boundary between Waimanu and Muliwai runs makai along the brow of the Waimanu pali, to a place near the head of Naluea gulch thence down the gulch to the sea. I do not know the exact spot where the boundary leaves Waimanu gulch and crosses into Naluea gulch.
Cross-examined.
