.... e Lyons survey the land but was told by the people there that he surveyed the one nearest Kalua. I was also told that he cut the heads of Paalaea 1st and Paalaea 2nd off and put them on Paalaea 3d.

Kalohanui, kane, sworn, I was born at Weha, Hamakua, at the time of the dedication of Eleio 1st. I know the boundaries of the Hilo side of Paalaea. It is bounded on that side by the land of Kalua, the line running along by the puhala trees; I was not told about the boundary at the foot of the pali. This was when the land was surveyed for natives who wished to buy Government lands, on the Hilo side. Kukilepa was the kamaaina who pointed out the boundaries to the surveyor. He was a luna of one Paalaea. The land was surveyed mauka along the puhala, and iwi aina to the Government road; thence to the awaawa with kukui trees in it. I do not know the name of the awaawa. I was told Kaao joined Paalaea there; thence mauka along the awaawa to Poholoomea pali; thence mauka along awaawa to an ohia tree makai of Kaakiwi cave. I was told that Kaao and Paalaeanui join at the ohia tree. This is as far as I know about the boundaries. [page 104] I can point out the boundaries, as far as I went with the surveyor.
