The Ahupuaa of Kiiokalani, District of North Kohala, Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit

On this, the 15th day of June A.D. 1874, the Commission of Boundaries for the Island Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit, met at the Court House, North Kohala on the application of G.W. Nawahie for the settlement of the boundaries of Kiiokalani, situated in the District of North Kohala, Island of Hawaii. Due notice personally served on owners or agents of adjoining lands, as far as known.

Testimony
Kekuaaea, kane, sworn, I was born in Kona during the reign of Kamehameha 3; came to Kohala when I was very small; know the land of Kiiokalani; have lived there and know its boundaries. I went around with my kupuna and he showed them to me. I used to cultivate food [page 276] on Kiiokalani, Puaiki and Kaihooa. Bounded on the north side by Puaike, there is a kualapa and kaheka at shore called Keawekanu; thence mauka to opposite a resting place called Puukawai, the compass was set between here and shore, when Ama surveyed the land. Thence to Puuleopo, a red pali where I used to cultivate food; thence to Kulana - o -Keoua, a place where Keoua used to stand and see the Kehena hills over the rising ground. This man was twice as tall as the rest of the people; there is an old trail along the boundary and the iwi aina runs mauka through the cultivating ground and thence to a side of a pig pen on Puaiki; the makai corner of Kanalua's land mauka side of Puukilea. Kanalua's runs from the Government road to Kawaihae to the Government road mauka of Kehena hill; This is as far as I saw Kiiokalani surveyed, but I have heard that the survey extends further mauka; He keiki told me that it was surveyed to Kihelea, a large ahua; thence it runs along Puanui, a short dista ....

It is therefore adjudged and I do hereby decide and certify that the boundaries of the said land are and hereafter shall be as hereinbefore set forth.
Given this 26th day of October A.D. 1878 at Hilo, Hawaii.
The decision in this case was given at Court House, North Kohala, Hawaii, June 15th A.D. 1874, and survey to be made & filed previous to certificate of Boundaries being issued.
