The Ahupuaa of Kaohe 4th, District of South Kona, Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit

On this, the 4th day of June A.D. 1874, the Commission of Boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit, met at the house of J.W. Kuaimoku, Pahoehoe, South Kona, on the application of Kaopua for the settlement of the boundaries of Kaohe 4th, situated in the District of South Kona, Island of Hawaii. Notice of hearing served by publication in the Hawaiian Gazette of May 20th 1874, and due notice personally served on owners or agents of adjoining lands, as far as known.

Present: J.G. Hoapili for applicant and for the Hawaiian Government.

Note 1: Royal Patent No. 1973 filed for boundaries between Kaohe 3d and Kaohe 4th from shore to woods.
Note 2: Royal Patent No. 2368 filed for boundaries between Kaohe 4th and Kaohe 5th from shore to woods.

Court opened according to Notice in Kuokoa of February 24, 1883, &c.

Present: J. Nawahi for owner of land, Kaopua, S.M. Kaaukai, Surveyor; Holi kane, Kalama Kaopua wahine & others.

Evidence

S.M. Kaaukai, sworn, I live in Honolulu, Island of Oahu, am Land Surveyor; I lately surveyed the lands of Kaopua in Kona, Hawaii, about April 1882; Papa 2d, Olomoana iki; and Kaohe 4th.

Evidence
S.M. Kaaukai, sworn, Pahia and I surveyed Kaohe, as soon as we finished Olelomoanaiki, with Huakanou as guide, and the Royal Patents of adjacent lands, run at Royal Patent 1973, of Papuha or Kaohe 3, 1st thence at Kaohe 3d Government Land (not surveyed) as per notes of survey, to Keauhou; thence at Keauhou 35 chains to Kaohe 5th, return to sea shore. 7 chains wide at sea shore; thence at Royal Patent 2368 to Hua (Kanou); thence at bound of Kaohe 5th Government land to Keauhou, containing 1135 acres; There was not dispute about any of the boundaries. No one appearing or filing any contest. The boundaries are decided to be given as in the notes of survey
