KAMEHAMEHA III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Benjamin Pitman, his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of Five-Hundred and thirty-one Dollars, thirty cents,  paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that certain piece of Land situated at Ponahawai in the Island of Hawaii, and described as follows:

Commencing at a stake on the intersection of the road leading to Sugar-mill with a foot path leading to native church, having the steeple of English Church bearing North 39° 25' west and the Stone Prison bearing South 78° 45' West; and running towards the Sugar works
South 28° 7' West 8 chains 27 feet thence
South 36° 34' West 4 chains 51 feet – thence to Southeast side of sugar works
South 43° West 13 chains 14 feet – thence through Sugar establishment to mauka side Boiling House
South 53° 26' West 3 chains 36 feet – thence
South 50° 30' West 4 chains 2 feet to Flagstaff at Southwest corner of School land – thence
North 38° 7' West 8 chains 27 feet to boundary line between ....
