To the Land Commissioners: I have a little petition to you two concerning the taro patches taken by the haole. Therefore I petitioned the Tax Officers to regulate these three taro patches and the border of land. On the 11th of January the Tax Officer came and investigated this and he returned them to me. The haole would not agree, I think I have the right there without anyone's objection. M ....

.... for $7.00 annually and he (Manu) continued to lease and pay from the year 1840 to the present time. In the event he should stop teaching and would desire to live under a conditional lease, then he would pay to the government for all of its interests, the same as the people who live as fee simple. No one has objected to him and William's interest has been separated.
