To the Honorable Wm. Richards, the President of the Land Commissioners ap-pointed by the Moi to investigate the rights to land in the Hawaiian Islands: To the Esteemed Persons: As in the new law which has been enacted concerning title to lands in the island of Oahu in the city of Honolulu, this being the place which adjoins the lot of Keaniani on the side touching Hooliliamanu, being the place of Kaunahi and myself, his heir - I hereby tell you that this place is for me, not for the heirs of K ....

.... apos;s lands at that time and I was living there, yet under Keanini for the house interest only, but in the year 1827 I had Kaunahi live in my house and in the year 1843 or 4 perhaps he died and he had bequested his estate to Poka, yet I had the interest for the house. In the year 1844 Keanini and I had a talk and I let him have my interest. The reason for our talk was that he wanted to have a lease with the foreigners and their right is only for the house and just as I had re-linquished my right so has Poka because he had not lived there. People who have built (house) there, are the people with rights through the government which has been established.
