No. 9955!, Lilikalani, counter C. Kanaina

Moluki, sworn, knoes the piece of land in dispute. It is in Honoapo, Kau, Hawaii. I know Lilikalani held this land. He was an under konohiki, but held it as a hoaaina (the land in dispute). He planted it with his own people & also with the labor on konohiki days. This land is a koele from ancient times & continued so to the death of Lilikalani.

N.T. 164v10
No. 9955!, Lilikalani (for S. Laanui) 21 May 1852
[should be 9955B]

C. Kanaina related, I had raised an argument for those two patches and at the time J. Ii had returned from Hawaii, I had heard that the decision was in my favor. For this reason I have always felt there should be no further dispute. However, now I have heard S. Laanui has established a claim, therefore, I contradict his claim. He has no rights. The work and the lease of the ponds by his father have been in order and I feel I should reimburse his expenses, but it is not right for the tenants to do work on that place.

Postponed, work will resume on Monday 2 pm.
