To the Land Commissioners, Greetings: I hereby tell you of my claim for my house lot at Honolulu, at Makaaho. The boundaries are as follows: on the north, the stream; on the east, Kauwaina's place; on the south, a taro patch for Kauwaina; on the west, a stream.
My makuakane lived in this place in the time of Kamehameha I, with four taro patches close to this house site. When my makuakane died, it was left with me, with no objections formerly, but at this time Kauwaina is objecting.
My occupation is from Kekauonohi at this time; she is my konohiki.
I also have a land at Waiahole, on the Koolau side. This land is named Poopepe.
From /the battle of/ Nuuanu, my makuakane had this land which was given him by Kamehameha I. When he died, it was left to me, with protection under the Mo`i.
There is also the land of Niupaipai at Honolulu which was given me by M. Kekuanaoa. I have had it perhaps six years. In the month of January, 1847, M. Kekuanaoa took that land through no fault of mine. I farmed this land for the poalima and also really farmed it /for myself/. It was taken completely away.

Kaiunui, sworn, I know this place. It is in Honolulu aina. It is kalo land & has two houses on it, bounded:

.... ili), sworn, he has seen this disputed land, Kalama, himself had given three patches and a pasture to him (Kaili) permanently.- The big patch which was filled with weeds was for Kaili, Kumoho and Kekanonohi. This was in 1846 and in 1847, Kaehu had come to write his (Kaili) claim and had sent it to the land officers. From that day to March 5, 1847, Kalama stirred to take the land which he had given to Kaili, but the food, the house and Kaili are still there at the present time. Kalama has admitted that he had given Kaili stewardship on the land.

Kapahuwai, sworn, I have seen this place over which there is a dispute between Kaili and Kalama - 3 patches are in Kalawahine, Honolulu.

Kalama had given his land to Kaili forever in 1848, it was Kaili who sold the plants as he had desired, except for the ground it was not sold, yet I am Kaili's wife's own brother and I am presently living there. I had a talk with Kalama and we had agreed to let Kaili live there and it was at that time that I had learned Kalama had given this land to Kaili on the date stated above.
