.... , I had seen puoha living on this place in the year 1838. Puohu's /plural/ house fell apart and he went to live with Manini. I did not see him living there again since that time to the present; however, I have seen Puaa living there a long time ago and he has always lived there from the time of Kamehameha I to the present time.

Therefore, it was clear in the minds of the land commissioenrs that Puohu did leave thatproperty in the year 1838 before the law had come into effect and has been away to the present time. Puaa's interest has been valid from that time to the present.
