Gentlemen:
In May 1827 I came on shore from the whale ship Harriot of London, as an Englishman have resided here ever since, been employed most part of the time making shingles, sawing lumber and farming. I have a native wife and three children. In 1837 I made 100,000 shingles for Governor Adams, for which he was to pay me 500 dollars; 400 of which he paid when the work was done, leaving $700 unpaid. Johnson and Kuniola, sworn, they have seen his land section in Kealaehu ili of Onouli ahupuaa from Kuakini in 1827, as payment for work done on his pili grass hut. No one objected.
