No. 935, Keaka, Honolulu, October 12, 1847
N.R. 546-547v2

Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby tell you of my house lot claim at Kalawahine in Honolulu, which is bounded on the north by an irrigation ditch, on the east by a road for Kunane, on the south by an irrigation ditch, on the west by the land of Nahulu. We began living at this place in the time of Liholiho and when this land went to Kaheklll, we purchased it from him for $10. There are witnesses to this sale. We have held this place peacefully. There is one house within this lot which is ours.

We also have six patches at Kalawahine, on the south side of Nuuanu Street which are held under the konohlkl. We also have another small house lot at Waikahalulu, adjoining the first lot. There is one adobe house there which is ours and we have held lt peacefully. We also have a mo`o`aina at Waikahalulu, between the stream and the irrigation ditch which is ours, under the konohiki.

No. 935, Keaka, vs. M. Kekauonhi and Keliiahonui, January 2, 1850

Kumuokalani, wahine, witness for Keaka, sworn, I have seen this place over which there is a dispute. Keaka had lived there for a long time and at that time my husband had been the overseer for Kalawahine under Kahekili and he had a contract with Keaka to build an enclosure. Keaka did forward $10.00 and I had seen the payment of this money. I have also seen personally a child sent by Kahekili to take the money. This witness has clearly stated that Keaka had given the money.

Kaukohe, witness for M. Kekauuonohi, sworn, I have seen this place. After Keaka's return from Spain, I had heard that he had fired help for $10.00 to build his fence. I had heard also that Keaka had paid $10.00 to Paahana and this was forwarded to Kahekili. However, I did not see this, but I had personally seen the men of Kalawahine building the enclosure.
