Greetings to the Land Commissioners, Hear ye: I hereby petition you for my `Ili `Aina in Paunau, Lahaina, Maui, which is called Kuaipuaa. I got that `Ili `Aina at the time of the death of Kaahumanu. It was given me by Hoapili wahine because of my profession of carpenter. Later, Hoapili was dispossessed and the land of Paunau was transferred to Kekauluohi. Kekauluohi returned my little `Ili `Aina until this day. Here are the witnesses who saw and heard: Kamakini, Kamanawa, Umiumi, My thought is to enter this claim in the book of the Land Commissioner ....

J. Kahula, sworn, Knows the patch in dispute. It belonged to, or was occupied by Maluo in the time of Kamehameha I. He confirms in general the testimony of the last witness. The patch in dispute belongs to Maluo (or his heirs). He cultivated this patch from the time it was restored to him by Kamakini (or Pualinui) up to his death, and his widow has held it since up to this time. The food now growing there belongs to her.
(Decided in favor of Maluo)
