Kahunu, sworn, I have seen Kauwe's claim in Nini, Honolulu in the same way as has been mentioned in the above statements. I do not know the true basis for this opposition by the konohiki. Kauwe has cultivated here for twelve years and is still doing it today. The land is arid, the tenants are trying their uttermost in obtaining water but are unsuccessful.
