This is a letter of representation merely and not a claim.

Joel W. Turrill, Without letter.

Conveyance for term of years.
Know all men by these presents that I, John Dominis of Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaiian Islands have this day granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do release and convey for the unexpired term of eighty-five years from the second day of February last past unto Joel Turrill, Esquire, at present Consul of the United States near the Hawaiian Government, resident of Honolulu, in the Island of Oahu, in consideration of four thousand dollars stipulated in two promissory notes of even date to me in hand paid, the receipt to whereof is hereby acknowledge, all that certain lot of land situate in Honolulu aforesaid, and described in a certain lease or conveyance thereof from Gorham H. Nye by C. Brewer, his attorney, leasing date 2 February 1838 as follows: "The whole of the premises & tenements, with all the privileges appurtaining [sic] thereto, belonging to me as appears by a bill of sale executed to me by Henry Paty on the record day of February 1837 of which the following is a copy.

.... to the said Gorham H. Nye, his heirs, executors, and assigns for the term of ninety-four; and I do declare that I am the sole proprietor of the said houses and tenements, and that they are free of all encumbrances, and I will defend the same against the claims and demands of all persons during the above term.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2d day of February 1837
