Greetings to the Honorable Land Commissioners: I hereby state truth-fully my claim for a house lot. It is here in Honolulu. It is bound-ed on the north by the store of Kahanaumaikai, on the east by Kaaoao-hema's lot, on the south by the lot of Hana Pauma /Hannah Palmer?/, on the west by a road. My lot is in the middle, there. My lot was from Pale, and he /she gave it completely to me, therefore I am telling you of it. I am, with thanks,
R. PAHANUI

.... me. Pahanui then asked me for a place and because he is my cousin, I have given, but you /land officers/ know what is best and you will decide because I do not know which one of them is right.

Naia, sworn, I have seen this place over which there is a dispute between the children of Farmer and Pahanui. The rights of this place is for Farmer because he had lived there when there were no dwellings. He had received it from Richard Charlton and that interest which Pahanui has had been Farmer's place. Farmer had given it to George Lana upon request and when George Lana went to Maui, the place was acquired by Mr. Lele. Then he went away; he bequested the land to his wife named Laawahine where she had lived until her death. She had bequested this place to Pale, her friend, and when she /Pale/ went away, it was bequested to Pahanui. I have not known about his way of life there.

Postponed until Farmer is available.
