Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I, a man of the island of Kauai, appear before you to state my land claim. The dimensions are as follows: 28 fathoms on the east, 28 fathoms on the west, 22 fathoms on the north, 22 fathoms on the south. That is my claim. Our occupancy has been from the time when Kaumualii was living until the month of January of this year of 1848. There are some houses in my lot, and it is for you, the Land Commissioners at Hale Kauwila, to make the award.
I am, respectfully, your servant,
