To the Commission to Quiet Land Titles at Hale Kauwila, greetings: I, a man of the island of Kauai, hereby state my claim of land, held from the time of Kaumualii until this day when it is stated to you, the Commissioners whom the Mo'i has appointed to confirm the people's titles. The Makuas lived at this place in ancient times until myself, the son, and I am a mature man, having held this place perhaps 20 or more years.
