Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I have a claim in the Ahupua`a of Halawa on the Island of Molokai. The name is Kakaeloa. The name of the makai `ili is Maulili, for Kuai, and the mauka `ili is Kahaloko, for Peleleu. Above is a pali, for Kaluau, and a valley is below, for Peleleu.

The produce of this land has been consumed from the time of Kamehameha I. The konohiki Keawekukaa gave it to my makuakane, and on their deaths I inherited it. Kimokeo ....
