Greetings to the Land Commissioners: In the `ili of Peekauai at Waimea on the island of Maui [sic] is a land /named/ Kaluaka. My land which has been held until the present, was received from Koolua.

It is bounded on the north by Paliuli, 3 chains 7 fathoms, on the east by some lo`is, 3 chains 3 fathoms, on the south by the lo`i of Kaikuaana, 4 chains, on the west by a pali, 3 chains.

He (Kaikuaana) had that land during the time of Kaikioewa and previous to that time Kaikuaana had lived as a shiftless tenant under Kupia. This is the way the land was taken. Keliiahonui had two lands here in Waimea and in Hanapepe, Keliiahonui desired to have all of Waimea for himself and let Kupia have all of Hanapepe. Kupia went to live in Hanapepe while Kaikioewa was yet alive and Keliiahonui had his land in 1848, July.

Opu, sworn, Lae's testimony is accurate and true.
