Know all men by these presents that I, Charles Cocket, english by birth, residing in Waikapu, Island of Maui, do on this the 12th day of the 5th month in the Year of our Lord 1845, for and in consideration of $800 Dollars to me in hand paid by Michael J. Nowlien, residing in Lahaina Maui, the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge, give grant, bargain, sell & convey to the said Michael J. Nowlien, his heirs & assigns, a certain parcel of La ....

Kooke, sworn deposed, They came on shore (Cocket & Caswell) lived a while with Atoni, then with me, after which, determining to remain on shore, they asked Hoapili after conversing with me, gave the spot which Cocket has sold to Nowlien at Aki, and built a house on it for them, procuring the timber for it at Honualu, and no one has ever since interfered with it since. This was done previous to the death of Nahienaena.
