Royal Patent
Upon Confirmation by the Land Commission

Whereas, the Board of Commissioners to quiet Land Titles have by their decision awarded unto William C. Lunalilo, L.C. Award 8559B, Ap. 40 an estate of Freehold less than Allodial, in and to the land hereafter described, and whereas Borthmann, the present occupier of the within described land by His attorney in fact, S. B. Dole has filed with the Minister of Interior certificates defining the boundaries of the same, and whereas the Privy Council by a Resolution have authorised [sic] the Minister of the Interior to grant a Royal Patent therefore without division, or commutation,

Therefore, Lunalilo Kalakaua, by the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known to all men, that he has, for himself and his successors in of ....

North 17.9 East 390 down face of Pale to stone on beach called Pohakumalumalu and continuing on out to sea to form boundary of fishing rights and thence in Easterly direction to place of commencement.
Containing an area of one thousand five hundred & twenty acres, more or less; excepting and reserving to the Hawaiian Government, all mineral and metallic mines of every description;

To have and to hold the above granted Land in Fee Simple, unto the said W.C. Lunalilo, his Heirs and Assigns forever, subject to the taxes to be from time to time imposed by the Legislative Council, equally upon all Landed Property held in Fee Simple.

In witness whereof, i have hereunto set my hand, and caused the Great Seal of the Hawaiian Island to be affixed, this fifth day of February, 1878.
